  1. I actually went to the Armory two weeks ago for a really cool exhibition of Robert Rauschenberg's paintings and print work. I'm not that into pop art or contemporary art,but his work was pretty amazing i have to say.

  2. I went to the opening of this Stitches exhibit and was pleasantly surprised by the level of work in the show. I didn't know what to expect out of an Armory Show, but it has a nice range of artists working with some element of obsessive craft. I couldn't stop looking at the large "paintings" of Ethopian artists, Elias Sime. I was amazed how he transformed the threading and buttons into something like marks and paint strokes. The largest piece in the gallery (with the brown and pink stains) was the most impressive. The single button on the canvas seemed to stand in for the artist, almost like his signature. It seemed to be this really personal piece where you could really imagine the work the artist puts into the piece. I also really loved the work by Lauren DiCioccio if for nothing else its purely obsessive quality! She meticulously reproduced everyday objects such as water bottles, slide reproductions and plastic grocery bags with embroidery and fabric.
