Hadley Holliday at Solway Jones Gallery

September 12 - October 10, 2009

Here's a fun abstract show I recommend in Chinatown.
Hadley came out of CalArts in 2004 and is a good example of work that is playful.
Let me know what you think.
Here is the info:

  1. An abstract painting, like every other painting, should give the viewer a message or reminds us of something or makes us think...It's even harder to do an abstract painting (I just realized that) because you have to consider colors, shapes etc. For instance, in Hadley's painting you see harmony in colors and shapes and it also gives me the impression of rain on the windshield under the sunlight or a drop of oil from cars on the ground on a rainy day where it creates beautiful colors...

  2. A painting can also make you feel something and get into the realm of things that we cannot necessary describe or even talk about. You can experience a painting and it can enter the realm of the mystical...

  3. Every style painting makes different feeling. This painting is like a dream... shiny and animated.

  4. This abstract painting is very interesting, it gives me both a calming feeling as well as an exciting feeling. I agree with Jessica that it is dreamlike and very imaginative. The colors all work very well with one another. To behonest, when I look at this painting I get a whirl of feelings that are indescribable in word.
